DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP TRUSTEES
Meeting Minutes: Special Meeting – August 15, 2026
– Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Trustee Havens, bypassing the Pledge
of Allegiance.
– Purpose: The purpose of the meeting was to open and consider closed bids for the reconstruction of
the gazebo in the center of Deerfield Circle.
– Discussion & Bid Openings: Tiffany announced Vaughn worked on the project, so he was given the
floor to conduct the meeting. Vaughn opened the envelopes for the following submissions:
1. Freedom Construction (1000 Lake Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44102): Estimated at $88,678.
2. Hummel (127 East Main Street, Ravenna, Ohio 44266): Estimated replacement cost of $85,040.
– Insurance Discussion & Motion: Vaughn initially discussed making a motion to table the bids until he
could speak with the insurance company (OTARMA). Following discussion, Tiffany made a motion to
move forward and accept Hummel’s bid on the contingency of insurance approval so the project can
proceed. Laura seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously.
– Next Steps: Tiffany will be calling the architect to begin the process for the necessary permits.
– Adjournment: Tiffany made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Laura seconded the motion, and it
passed unanimously.
